Cash4Clubs, funded by Flutter UKI, has boosted their 2026 funding to £/€500,000 to help 250 grassroots sports and community clubs across Ireland and the UK. In partnership with leading UK charity Sported, these small grants of £/€2,000 to clubs and organisations that help keep adults engaged with sport, particularly in areas that need it most.
Cash4Clubs is a small grants scheme for community sports clubs and organisations to use as they see fit, whether that's to purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications or invest in the sustainability of their club. In 2005, almost 32,000 adults benefited from the Cash4Clubs scheme and according to leading UK charity Sported, who help administer the fund, 86% of clubs who responded to a questionnaire confirmed they had grown their membership as a direct result of this scheme.
Cash4Clubs was set up in 2008 by Betfair, now part of Flutter UKI, to support local sports clubs. Since then, it has grown in size, helping hundreds of thousands of people across the UK and Ireland by ensuring they have access to local sports and supporting the sustainability of clubs.
Cash4Clubs is funded by Flutter UKI, part of Flutter Entertainment, the global sports betting, gaming and entertainment provider for over 18 million customers worldwide.
Flutter understands the power of sport in promoting health and wellbeing, bringing people together and building thriving communities which is why Cash4Clubs is one of their biggest community initiatives and a central part of their commitment to Do More for the community.
Over £7million has been donated since then via Cash4Clubs in different guises, including the ClubsInCrisis, a campaign that was run during the pandemic.
Community sport is more than just the game it's an investment in the health, resilience, and future of our communities.
Sport promotes healthy living, it has the power to bring people together, fostering relationships, and transforming lives for the better.
We believe that sport is not just for the elite. It is for everyone and we want to get behind the clubs across the UK and Ireland that are part of the backbone of our communities.
This is why we are working with Sported, the UK’s largest network of community sports groups, to get vital funds to the clubs that need it most. The increasing costs of running clubs has put enormous pressure on community sports and the threat of closure is real.
According to a recent study conducted by Red C Research on behalf of Flutter UKI, 40% of adult grassroots sports clubs are cancelling services because of financial pressures.
A quarter don't believe they will remain financially sustainable beyond the next 12 months without external funding.
The ramifications of these clubs closing their doors would be devastating to communities up and down the country.
We also believe that communities know best how to allocate their funding which is why grants are unrestricted. This means the money goes to the clubs that need it most in the way that can help best. It your club, group, or non-for profit organisation is helping adults stay active, then Cash4Clubs is here to help.
