Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow Athletic Club
The Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club, based in Eton, Berkshire, Athletics training and competition to males and females aged 11+ through to veterans. It has a membership of over 700 members, attracting sports people from far and wide as it currently ranks highly in the UK with National athletics titles won both at team and individual level.
As well as its regular sport activities the club provides excellent support to its local community. Assistance is given to both schools and at a district sports level, plus the club aids teaching staff by providing lectures to school children on basic physiology and the dangers of drugs in sport.
The club's main goals are to enable the youth of the area to benefit through improved health and fitness and to experience the teamwork and discipline required thereby becoming even better members of society.
A Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £250 was awarded to the club to enable them to continue with their drugs lectures and also to assist in sending a team of 75 young athletes to Birmingham for the National Young Athletics Finals.
"This will enable us to continue to help youth development both by providing the highest levels of competition and by working with schools to highlight the moral and physical dangers of drug use in sport."
