Chandlers Ford Golf
The Chandler's Ford Golf Academy offers teaching and training to their junior members from age 3 up to 16. The club has 80 junior members and whether they are starting from scratch or looking to improve their game, the academy is happy to help. As well as teaching members how to improve, the club strives to boost their younger members' confidence and teach them new life skills through playing golf.
In order to continue their work, the club was in need of new equipment for their younger members. Through a Cash 4 Clubs sports grant they were able to provide this along with new team shirts for all, which helped the youngsters feel part of the club and the broader golfing community.
Instructor Kevin Caplethorne has said of their younger members: "It's the ones that have never played any sport before that you often find are outstanding at golf. Nine times out of ten you find it's a girl who has always been picked last for the other teams and turns up with a real natural eye for it. The plan is that, after here, they will go on to golf clubs and become full members and move into the game in that respect."
