Brighton Cougars Community Basketball Club
Brighton Cougars Community Basketball Club is a Basketball club based in Brighton, East Sussex. It is the only community basketball club in Brighton and Hove, with over 200 members in 2009, the club caters for every level of ability from the very beginner to those playing national league.
Brighton Cougars Community Basketball Club offers an extended school provision and through their Community Coaching Initiative the club has always had a strong focus on developing young basketball players.
The club recently achieved Clubmark Level III and is now working towards achieving Level IV in 2010 by extending playing opportunities, recruiting more volunteers and offering training opportunities. The club aims to offer participation in basketball to as many people as possible and has set a target of increasing its membership to at least 250 this season
The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £1,000 was awarded to the club to enable them to support their U13 teams by providing new kit, training a dedicated coach and nine new volunteers to include 3 referees and 3 table Officials as well as offering first aid training to 3 volunteers
The grant will help the club to increase participation, extend playing opportunities, and qualifying more volunteers, leading to recognition for Clubmark IV.
