Reach for the Sky Basketball

Reach for the Sky Basketball is based in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and was set up by former professional basketball player Graham Hunter. Their aims are to develop sustainable basketball clubs throughout Lanarkshire as at present they do not exist, for young boys and girls. In addition is the hope that these grassroot ventures will eventually lead to a national league squad.

As well as the promotion of basketball as a sport the organisation hopes to bring further benefits to local communities, such as helping to tackle anti-social behaviour in regeneration areas and to increase the low participation levels of young girls and women in sport.

A Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £500 was awarded to Reach for the Sky Basketball to help give a boost to their venture as they promote their activities throughout Lanarkshire. It will go towards helping the clubs to buy their own equipment, and helping to providing coaching and taster sessions within school catchment areas.
