Caledonian Youth Club
Caledonian Youth Club is a football club based in Prestwick, Ayshire. The Club runs football teams and coaching for children between 5 and 17 and they currently have around 300 members. The club is run and coached entirely by unpaid volunteers and has been going for 25 years helping thousands of children to stay active and enjoy football.
The club encourages children from all backgrounds and abilities to take part in football. Helping them to maintain a healthy lifestyle, take part in sport and build their confidence.
The club hopes to continue to grow and encourage more children to take part. To do this they are re establishing their girls teams and hope to build on the SFA Quality Mark that they were recently awarded.
The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £1,000 was awarded to the club to enable them to re establish their girls teams.
" As a club we have been trying to rebuild our girls team after it fell into decline over the past few years . We have taken on new coaches and are starting with the youngest age at 7,8 & 9 and currently we have been borrowing equipment from other teams at the club. With the fantastic award from cash4clubs we can get the girls kitted out in club strips and purchase some balls etc, it will also help continue in the education of existing and new coaches. Over the longer term we will hope to use the money to expand the girls team to cover an older age group up to 11 year olds ." David Skeoch, Caledonian Youth Club.
