St. John's Amateur Boxing Club

Based in Manchester, the St John's Amateur Boxing Club provides keep fit, recreational boxing and competitive boxing to anyone aged ten and above. The club, run by volunteers has around 100 male and female members. The club aims to support total inclusion by keeping subscriptions low, non tolerance of any discrimination, and catering for members with a range of special needs.

The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £500 was awarded to the club to enable them to provide further coaching opportunities to their volunteer coaches. Coaches are required to have a Level 2 qualification and current first aid certificate in order to head up a training session, and this has limited the number of training sessions the club has been able to offer. Increasing the number of Level 2 qualified coaches will allow the club to expand on its sessions and membership, and free up time for coaches to attended higher level training courses thus providing a continual development of skills of both coaches and members within the club.

"We are thrilled to receive this award from Cash4Clubs, it will make so much difference to the club by enabling us to train more volunteers so we can improve the services we offer, without this award we would not be able to maintain the high standards and reach the targets the club has laid out in its development plan," St. Johns ABC.
