Burnley Crusaders American Football Club
Based in Burnley, Lancashire, the Burnley Crusaders American Football Club is just a year old but already supports 3 youth teams and a 10-strong voluntary administration team. Using the facilities of a local rugby club they provide 2 training sessions a week. Their goals include being able to gain Clubmark status within the next 12 months, and to have all their coaches fully trained up to level 2 coaching. This will allow the club to grow and engage with more youngsters in the local community who are interested in this sport.
The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £500 was awarded to the club to go towards better training equipment and kit for the players. With the club situated in a disadvantaged area this help is needed so as not to discourage young players from joining due to the high costs. The club has also been looking to purchase specialised equipment for training instead of sharing the rugby equipment from the club facilities they use.
