East Durham Ishinryu
East Durham Ishinryu is a Karate club based in Peterlee, County Durham. It is a fledgling karate club set up in September 2009. The club now has around 25 members, all from the Durham coalfields regeneration area.
The club aims to teach its students discipline, self respect and respect for others. Karate also helps maintain a healthy lifetyle and gives people, especially youngsters, something to aim for and achieve. The club aims to ensure the growth and development of its members and to encourage more to take up the art in the East Durham area.
The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £250 was awarded to the club to enable them to purchase a club tracksuit, so that members can identify with the club they are part of.
