Newham Warriors FC

Newham Warriors Football Club is based in Newham, London, with five football teams ranging from under 12's to 16+. The Club is part of Dads & Lads, a Newham-based voluntary organisation, and follows its ethos of providing education through recreation to: 'Enhance the lives of children, young adults and their families at grassroots level by providing healthy recreational activities and services that address their needs and aspirations.'

Dads & Lads created Newham Warriors in 2001 to help bring estranged fathers and sons together through mutual enjoyment of football. However, it also holds a popular Fun Day and workshops for the boys on issues like bullying, knife crime, peer pressure, self esteem and nutrition.

The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £1,000 was awarded to the club to enable them to subsidise some junior kits for those with financial constraints but where the boys have shown good conduct on the pitch and at school. The grant will also go towards Level 1 training for new volunteers which will help ensure they continue to provide the training the teams deserve.

Keith Rochester, Chairman of both Dads & Lads and Newham Warriors said: "The ethos of Newham Warriors, set by Dads & Lads, is one that not only focuses on players as footballers but as children and young adults realising not only their ambition but, also recognising their role within their community. Receiving this cash injection is something we are proud of and is reward for the dedication of the coaches, managers and volunteers as well as the players and their families."
