Welwyn Warriors
Welwyn Warriors Lacrosse Club in Welwyn Garden City was established as a junior development club in 1996. It now offers curriculum lessons, lunchtime clubs and after schools clubs across the district, taster sessions for secondary schools, and men and women's teams.
To run programmes in schools, which are an essential building block of lacrosse, they employ two full time lacrosse development officers to run school and club activities. However the club receives very limited funding and the cost to participate is kept low so there is little money for developing activities further.
The money they have been awarded in the form of a Cash 4 Clubs grant has gone towards purchasing new playing kit and sticks for both junior and senior teams as well as equipment for their school Pop Lacrosse Programme, a national schools competition they help run in the area.
