Grant Winners from Gwent

In our last regional promotion we awarded sport grants to three local sports clubs in the Gwent region of South Wales. In partnership with the South Wales Argus local sports groups were invited to submit their grant applications during January and February. With a judging panel from Betfair, the South Wales Argus and a sports representative from the local Gwent council the following local community clubs were judged to be most deserving. Each club was awarded with a £1,000 sports grant from Cash 4 Clubs. The winners were:

- Blaenafon Barracudas, a swimming club currently based in Pontypool after storm damage in 2006 resulted in their swimming pool being pulled down. The grant will buy much needed equipment of their own whilst they share swimming pool facilities.

- Gwent Sword Club in Newport, who will be spending their grant on equipment to encourage new beginners to the sport.  This allows members to borrow the expensive equipment rather than having to buy their own.

- Kestrel Gymnastics Club in Chepstow, who have been fighting tirelessly to rebuild their facilities for the last two years following a fire and other subsequent setbacks. The Cash 4 Clubs grant will help replace some of their lost equipment.
